I was watching a programme on the television last night and it set me thinking about how women style themselves.
From my own point of view I am an individual and hate to follow the fashion trends.I am of the opinion that I am who I am and if people don’t like the way I dress than that’s their lookout. I’m not going to rush to the shops to buy the clothes just because so and so is wearing them.
However, my thirteen year old daughter is passionate about following the latest trends and the person she is following at the moment is Pixie Lott. It really amazes me that Pixie is only 5 years older than my daughter and yet she is a huge pop star. It’s astounding that they are a little girl one moment and then in a blink of the eye they are huge pop stars.
Currently my daughter and her friends are absolutely obsessed with any sort of Silver Jewellery. Her dressing table is absolutely crammed full of Silver Necklaces and Silver Bracelets. It’s stupid because she won’t wear most of it, but that doesn’t seem to stop her wasting her money on it just because her favourite pop star is wearing it.
It’s funny that so many of these kiddies start their careers singing, but then a few years down the line their plans change and out comes a new fashion range, so still making money out of our youngsters.
Their management are very clever and they obviously realise that their clients only have a short shelf life, so try to make the very most money out of them.
Mind you, I’m not so sure I am that different because I can remember the days when I was 13 and I went to see my favourite band – Adam and The Ants. They were absolutely fantastic in the flesh and for weeks and weeks I asked my mum and dad to let me have a jacket just like the one Adam wore.I cam within a hairs whisker of my dad actually buying me a jacket, but just when I thought I had it, mum came along and put the mockers on it.So perhaps things aren’t really that different, it’s just that I have finally grown up!!

No I don’t suppose anything has changed that much. Although I do think there is an awful lot of pressure now on children and teenagers to follow their idols.
But I am sure she will grow out of it. In the meantime she is probably having fun.
Oh and at least she is not into gold jewellery, just imagine the bill for that
